Real dreams are a lower form of prophecy.  It is not really very prevalent today, if at all.  Our dreams today are more a product of the things we think about during our waking hours, especially the moments before we go to sleep.

With regard to meditation it is a very vauge word and can be very positive or destructive depending on what you mean.  In any event this is not something that I know much about.
