Halacha - new clothes
Submitted by anonymous  Answered by Rav Peretz Moncharsh

On new clothes that are special enough that one is excited to purchase them the beracha of shehecheyanu is recited. We do not say this beracha on shoes or other leather garments.

The proper time to recite this beracha is immediately on purchasing the article of clothing if it is bought ready to wear. However if the object needs adjusting, then the beracha is recited the first time it is worn.
