Hi Ari,

I believe the answer is that the spout portion is considered to be a separate vessel and not part of the main cup. It therefore is disqualified as it does not contain the necessary shiur required for a halachic washing cup.

Actually, if there is no other cup, you can use a cup with a spout provided that you pour from the other edge, i.e. not through the spout....
