Halacha - Ma'aser on large gifts
Submitted by DYL  Answered by Rav Peretz Moncharsh
Question:
Answer:

It is not necessary to take maaser on a gift designated for a specific purpose if this will undermine the purpose of the gift. Had the relaive given you an actual vehicle you would not be obligated to give 1/10 of its cash value to Tzedaka, and this is considered the same.
