Halacha - Sleeping in Dark Room on Shabbos
Submitted by Yaakov Simon  Answered by Rav Peretz Moncharsh
Question:
Answer:

The heter is reasonable and based on considering extinguishing the light mavriach ari. The logic is that you are not benefiting from something created by the melacha that was done on Shabbos, but rather from the lack of light. While the melacha of turning off the light may be no less severe than kindling it, the issur of deriving enjoyment is only from a positive and concrete creation. If you still find this difficult to understand, you are certainly allowed to be machmir on yourself.
